Dr. Bernal Graduated from the Colombian School of Dentistry in 1986. He completed one year as a Research Scholar in the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1989. Following this he completed his Posgraduate Education in Prosthodontics and his Master Degree at Indiana University. He was Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at Javeriana University in Bogota Colombia from 1994 to 1998. He conducted private practice exclusively in Prosthodontics and implants in Bogota from 1992 to 1998.
He was Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry from 1998 to 2003 and Professor and Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University from 2001 to 2003. Actually he is in private practice and part time teaching at the Javeriana University in Bogotá Colombia and at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is Board certified of the American Board of Prosthodontics and fellow of The American College of Prosthodontists, member of The John F Johnston Society for Advanced Partial Prosthodontics, active member of the Academy of Osseointegration, member of the Colombian Prosthodontic Society and the Colombian Federation of Dentistry.
He has over 15 publications on peer review journals and is speaker of the subjects of prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Currently he is the International Director for the American College of Prosthodontists
