Dr. Horiuchi graduated from Osaka University School of Dentistry in 1981. He was a former associate professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Nara Medical University, where he received his PhD in 1991. He is currently a clinical professor at Osaka University School of Dentistry and in private practice. He is presently a scientific advisor and clinical consultant of Nobel Biocare Japan. Dr. Horiuchi has published several national and international articles on immediate loading, alveolar ridge augmentation using bone graft and/or alveolar distraction, and oro-maxillofacial reconstruction. His paper on immediate loading of edentulous jaws was published in JOMI in 2000. Moreover, at Nobel Biocare International TeamDay™ in 2000, he presented immediate loading of edentulous jaws as an invited speaker. Therefore, he is internationally famous as a pioneer of immediate loading of completely edentulous jaws. He has experience with immediate loading of completely edentulous jaws in 200 cases.
