Dr. Nölken graduated in 1991 from the University in Frankfurt School of Medicine and Dentistry, Main, Germany. Under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Ralf Schmidseder, he specialized in oral surgery from 1991 to 1994. In 1994, he published his thesis “Pathological changes in the anterior horn of the spinal cord in Alzheimer`s disease” and received his DMD. Since 1995, he has maintained a private practice limited to oral surgery, implantology, periodontics and micro-endodontics in Lindau, Lake Constance. In 2001, he was appointed a Specialist in Periodontics with the German Society for Periodontics, a Specialist for Implantology with DGI in 2002, and a Specialist for Micro-endodontics with DGZ in 2004. In 2005, he became senior physician and researcher at the Department for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Mainzunder Prof. Dr. Wilfried Wagner. He added another private practice with Prof. Dr. Werner Mang at the Bodenseeklinik in 2006.
