Dr. Rajan holds the following degrees: MBBS, BDS, and FDSRCS. He currenly practices as a oral consultant and maxillofacial surgeon, Rajan Dental Institute, Chennai, India. He is a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India. He was awarded the Tamilnadu Scientist Award for Medicine in 2002. His main areas of interest are facial deformity correction, temporomandibular joint disorders, dental implantology, oral pre-cancer, and clefts in lips and palates.

His international publications include: TMJ Ankylosis Treatment – New Technique (International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial, Dec 1997) and Oral Submucous Fibrosis (Asian Journal of Oral & Maxillofcial Surgery, 2005). He was an ivited speakers at the following international conferences: 28th National Conference of Philippine College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Jan 2005 and 7th Asian Congress on Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Hong Kong, Nov 2006. From 1997-2000, he edited of the Indian Journal of Oral & maxillofacial Surgery.
