After his Dental graduation at the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, Dr. Brouwers specialized in periodontology and implantology. From 1986 through 2001, he worked as a general dentist. Since 2001, he has been a visiting professor and works as a researcher at the Academic Centre of Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). He received his Master of Science degree in oral implantology in 2006. He is a member of the Stichting Implantologie Nederland. Since 2002, he has worked as an implant surgeon and prosthodontist at the referral clinic for oral implantology in Amersfoort (Implantologie Amersfoort). Together with his colleague Dr. Han van Dijk, he has been a speaker on the subject of implantology, as well as a dedicated NobelMentor TM. In their course center in Amersfoort (NL), they train every month a new group of dentists in the field of oral implantology.
