Presenter Details

Shohei Kasugai

Dr. Kasugai received his DDS and PhD degrees from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU). From 1989 to 1991, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto. In the 1990s, he and his colleagues developed a bone marrow cell culture system that could be applied to evaluate dental implant materials and to regenerate bone. He was previously an associate professor of Pharmacological Department in TMDU developing therapeutic drugs for osteoporosis, which stimulates bone formation. In 2000, he became professor and chairman of Oral Implantology and Regenerative Dental Medicine. Currently, he is the director of the Dental Implant Clinic at TMDU. His research currently focuses on dental implants and the related bone-tissue engineering. He is a director of Japanese Maxillofacial Implant Society, a committee member of Japanese Society of Oral Implantology, and a member of Academy of Osseointegration.
